What is domestic violence?
Domestic violence is simple assault that deals with an assault on a family member, someone you’re in a dating relationship or someone you live with. It is very simply a simple assault charge. However, there’s some things that make a domestic violence charge different than a simple assault charge. Number one, if you’re convicted of domestic violence in the state of Mississippi, you can lose your right to bear a firearm. Very basic Constitutional principles afforded to everyone under the Second Amendment could be lost. Therefore, it’s important if you hunt or own any firearms, and you’re charged with a domestic violence charge, to seek out counsel that can help you through this process and hopefully retain all of your rights.
