Tale as old as time
Song as old as rhyme
Beauty and the Beast
For many fans of the Disney classic Beauty and the Beast, the wait is finally over. The DeSoto Family Theatre in Southaven, Mississippi, is currently playing the “tale as old as time” through Dec. 15.
For those who have never seen Beauty and the Beast, the play is a must-watch. The classic begins when Maurice, lost in the woods on the way to the fair, seeks shelter in an old castle. Unfortunately, the master of the castle is a horrible beast that takes him captive. Maurice’s daughter, Belle, must give up her freedom to save his life.
The Southaven show is filled with spectacular costumes, as well as memorable songs such as “Be Our Guest,” “Belle,” and “Something There.”
Regular box office ticket prices at the DeSoto Family Theatre are $22 for adults and $15 for seniors, children, and students with a valid college ID. School matinee and group discounts are available.
Beauty and the Beast will take the stage again on Dec. 6-8 and Dec. 13-15. Belle will be played by Ashley Wieronski, while Chuck Hodges will play the role of Beast.
If you have never been to the DeSoto Family Theatre in Southaven, this is a great opportunity to see what everyone’s been talking about. The organization was originally founded as DeSoto Youth Theatre in 2000 to provide Southaven and DeSoto County youth the opportunity to pursue theatre arts at the local level. The name was eventually changed to the DeSoto Family Theatre to better reflect the fact that all productions are designed to be appropriate for the entire family.
As the curtain rises, we encourage everyone in Southaven to check out Beauty and the Beast this December.
